Uttar Pradesh: With preparations in place, the Yogi Adityanth led State is geared up to receive its ninth airport. UP outclasses all states pan india to host five international airports.Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of the Noida International Airport in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar at 1 pm today.
Ecstatic CM Adityanth, takes to his twitter handle he retweeted PM Modi tweet that stated – “25th November is a major day for India’s and Uttar Pradesh’s strides in infra creation. At 1 pm the foundation stone of the Noida International Airport will be laid. This project will significantly boost commerce, connectivity and tourism.” CM Adityanath expects investments of over Rs 10,000 crore after the first phase and up to Rs 35,000 crore once the airport is fully built.
Spread on 1,300 hectares the airport will be equipped to cater around 1.2 crore passengers per year, with Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Agra, Faridabad, and nearby areas set to benefit. Planned to be built in four phases, the first phase would be accessible by 2024, for which an outlay of Rs 10,500 crore, has been informed. The airport will harbour a “multimodal transit hub”, that would link Delhi and Noida and major neighbouring cities to the airport easing access. The cargo terminal will have a capacity of 20 lakh metric tonnes, that can be expanded to 80 lakh metric tonnes. Seamless movement of industrial products has been assured through hectares of land that serves as the cargo terminus. The terminus with a basic capacity of 20 lakh metric tonnes, could accommodate over 80 lakh metric tonnes.
With over eight operational airports at present, including international airports in Lucknow and Varanasi, Kushinagar (a Buddhist pilgrimage site) and a fourth – in the temple town of Ayodhya, the Noida International Airport is said to be line in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of creating a “future-ready aviation sector”.
