Leaders of all political parties were urged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday to put country before party and work together to achieve the target of “Viksit Bharat” by 2047. Modi stated that parties should put aside disagreements for the next four years and leave little space for politics in the six months leading up to the 2029 Lok Sabha elections in his customary speech before the start of the Parliament session.
“A significant milestone in the glorious journey of our democracy is the budget session. After sixty years, the government has returned to power for a third term. Our budget will provide guidance for the next five years of our journey and lay a solid foundation for a “Viksit Bharat,” Modi declared. Additionally, he urged all political parties to work together over the next five years, saying that India’s opportunities are at their best.
“The nation’s positive outcomes are at their peak, and now it is the responsibility of all political parties to fight for the nation as ‘ek’ (one) and ‘nek’ (true) over the next four years,” stated the prime minister. Modi criticized opposition parties for causing disruptions in Parliament and said it was unfortunate that some elected officials were unable to bring up issues that affected their individual constituencies because of the disruptions.
“Some parties hid their flaws by using the time allotted to Parliament. During the previous session of Parliament, opposition parties tried to prevent me from speaking. In a democracy, such strategies are unacceptable,” PM Modi said.
