Bhubaneswar: The government of Odisha has declared a school holiday in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on June 20, 2025, due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit. This decision was made to manage the expected crowd and ensure smooth proceedings during the Prime Minister’s engagements.
In preparation for PM Modi’s visit to Bhubaneswar on June 20, the Commissionerate Police has drawn up an elaborate security plan under which a record 133 platoons of police personnel have been deployed across the city.
Prime Minister Modi is slated to address a public meeting at 4:30 pm, where he will outline future plans and initiatives for the state. The event will also feature the unveiling of the state’s ‘Vision Document for 2036’, which outlines the long-term developmental goals set by the state government. Additionally, various developmental projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure and public services in Odisha will be launched during the programme.
Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal mentioned that the anniversary celebrations will see participation from central and state ministers, MLAs, MPs, and party workers from all 147 assembly segments. This broad participation underscores the event’s significance as a platform for political unity and a demonstration of organisational strength within the party.
Senior officers, including 16 Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) or Superintendents of Police (SP) rank, 33 Additional DCPs, 93 Assistant Commissioners (ACPs) or Deputy Superintendents (DSPs), 106 inspectors, 455 sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors, 189 women personnel and 291 home guards will be on duty. Central forces and bomb disposal squads have also been deployed to strengthen security.
Travellers are advised to avoid main routes and use designated parking areas including Airport Golei, Meteorological Ground and Shastri Nagar. The arrangements were finalised at a high-level review meeting chaired by Police Commissioner Suresh Chandra Devdutt Singh.
