Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi who arrived in Srinagar on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday said that preparations for the assembly elections have begun and that the Union territory will get back its statehood too.
Addressing an event after laying the foundation stone and inaugurating 84 developmental projects worth Rs 1,500 crore in Srinagar, Modi also said the central government has taken the recent terror attacks in the Union territory very seriously and the enemies of Jammu and Kashmir will be given a befitting reply.
The Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects in Jammu and Kashmir worth more than Rs 1,500 crores encompassing the sectors of road, water supply, and infrastructure in higher education. He also launched the Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP) worth Rs 1,800 crores. He also distributed the appointment letters to about 2000 youth who have been recruited in the government sector. Mr. Modi was accompanied by Minister for Aayush Pratap Rao Jadhav, J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and other senior officers.
The Prime Minister also highlighted certain developmental initiatives which his government has undertaken in the last ten years under Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. Meanwhile, Mr. Modi will lead the nation from the laws of SKICC tomorrow on the occasion of the 10th International Yoga Day. Around 7,000 people are expected to attend the Yoga Sessions at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Complex (SKICC) located on the banks of the world-famous Dal Lake in Srinagar.
