New Delhi : Amidst escalating strikes on the Ex- Soviet Union, PM Modi is scheduled to have a telephonic conversation with President’s of both Russia and Ukraine, said govt sources as scores of SOS messages surfaced from cities under heavy bombarding. He is expected to speak to President Zelensky first before dialling President Putin in the afternoon.
This is the third time Modi would have a conversation with his Russian counterpart since they opened fire. While Zelensky and Modi had a dialogue on February 26th, days after Russian forces barged in from East.
Meanwhile, india is amplifying its efforts to lift the dire students sending across messages for help. Students stuck in a medical college hostel in the Ukrainian city of Sumy were told yesterday by the Indian Embassy to “be ready to leave on short notice”. A team of officials has been stationed in Poltava – nearly a three-hour drive from Sumy – to coordinate the safe passage of the students.
Harjiot Singh, who sustained bullet injuries in Kyiv, is also being escorted to IAF’s special aircraft, that will bring him and other Indians back to India from Poland. Reportedly, 700 Indians have been hiding in Sumy, which has been reciveving heavy shelling.
