Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on Sunday, claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party has become the first option of the people throughout the country that a series of recent electoral wins in Maharashtra, Kerala, and Bihar were the undisputable indicators of the growing trust of the people in the party. Addressing a mass gathering in Assam, the Prime Minister added that trust towards the BJP was increasingly growing in the country in the past one to one-and-a-half years.
Using the example of the recently held elections in Bihar, Modi stated that the populace had given the BJP a record mandate which indicated that the people had been highly pleased with the governance and policies of the party. He indicated that the findings indicated that the voters still trusted development-based leadership.
The Prime Minister also pointed out the results of urban local body elections in Maharashtra whose results were announced a few days back. He termed the performance by BJP in the municipal corporation elections in Mumbai as historic as the party won the elections there first time. Addressing the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation as one of the biggest civic organizations in the world, Modi said that the victory was a milestone in BJP political journey.
Going to Kerala the Prime Minister complimented the party on the rise it was making in a state which had always been thought of as a very hostile ground on which the BJP could not do. He added that the party got good results in the municipal elections and added that Thiruvananthapuram has a BJP mayor at present, which is something he has never had before, as it indicated the party was expanding in areas it was not doing so well before.
Swiping against the Congress, the Modi stated that the party was founded in Mumbai but it is currently at position four or five in the city. He claimed that the Congress has lost the confidence of the citizens since there was no apparent development agenda unlike what he termed the agenda of the BJP in terms of growth and governance.
