Lucknow. Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Shri Ram Mandir Ayodhya Dham, died on Wednesday. He breathed his last at the age of 80 at 7 am in PGI Lucknow. His health was not well for the past few days. According to doctors, he had a brain hemorrhage. So he was admitted to a hospital in Ayodhya, but seeing his condition deteriorating, he was referred from there to PGI Lucknow. He was undergoing treatment here, he died on Wednesday morning.

PM Modi expressed deep sorrow over the death of Acharya Satyendra Das. The Prime Minister wrote on his X handle that he is deeply saddened by the demise of Mahant Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Ram Janmabhoomi temple. Mahant, who was an expert in religious rituals and scriptures, dedicated his entire life to the service of Lord Shri Ram. His invaluable contribution to the spiritual and social life of the country will always be remembered with reverence. I pray to God to give strength to his family and followers in this hour of grief. CM Yogi also paid tribute to the chief priest of Ram temple (Acharya Satyendra Das). He said that the demise of Acharya Satyendra Kumar Das Ji Maharaj, the chief priest of the great Ram devotee, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Shri Ayodhya Dham is extremely sad and an irreparable loss to the spiritual world. Let us tell you that Satyendra Das was made the temporary priest of Ram Mandir on 6 December 1992. During this time Satyendra Das was only 20 years old. He renounced worldly attachments and pledged to serve Ramlala for life. Acharya Satyendra Das was born on 20 May 1945 in Sant Kabir Nagar district of UP. Since childhood, Satyendra Das was fond of spirituality and Ramlala. With age, his devotion towards Ramlala kept increasing. Satyendra Das often came to Ramnagari Ayodhya with his father. During this time he met Abhiramdas. Later Abhiram Das fought the long queue for Ramlala.
