In his address on Sunday in Malaysia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it clear and categorical how India is going to deal with terrorism and it is quite evident that there cannot be a selective strategy to the global menace. In his bilateral talks with the Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur, Modi emphasized that India would never compromise on its anti-terrorist stance also saying that the war against terrorism would not tolerate any form of double standards.
It is important to highlight that the Prime Minister emphasized that terrorism, in its various forms and manifestations, should be dealt with in a consistent and concerted effort. His comments highlighted the historical demand of India who wants a consistent international response and he opposes any form of vague or distinction in the fight against extremist violence.
After the negotiations, India and Malaysia proclaimed a variety of projects focused on enhancing partnership in the major spheres, especially in the domains of defence and security, trade, and high technologies. Modi reported that both nations have concurred to have more detailed cooperation on defence signalling greater involvement in matters of strategy and security.
The talks also went beyond the conventional security issues to include future-oriented economic as well as technological alliances. By emphasizing on innovation-based expansion, Modi indicated that India and Malaysia would collaborate in core and new areas.
The Prime Minister added that we will develop collaborations in the semiconductors, health, and food security, and artificial intelligence and digital technologies. He also stated that further collaboration on such fronts would not only develop the bilateral relationship, but also help in stabilizing the region and prosperity among all.
The visit itself indicates a new impetus to take Indian-Malaysian relations, a good security cooperation with a new level of collaboration in the fields of technology, trade, and sustainable development.
