New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday evening convened with US Secretary Antony Blinken. Taking to his micro blogging site, PM Modi welcomed President Joe Biden’s strong commitment to strengthening the India-US Strategic Partnership.
He said,” Good to meet US Secretary of State @SecBlinken today. I welcome President Joe Biden’s strong commitment to strengthening the India-US Strategic Partnership, which is anchored in our shared democratic values and is a force of global good.”
Earlier during the day, US Sec Blinken met External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar over a working lunch. The two sides discussed cooperation on a wide range of issues, including Afghanistan, countering COVID-19, the Indo-Pacific strategy and the Quad.
Addressing the joint conference with his S Jaishankar, the US diplomat said that there are very few relationships in the world that are more vital than the one between India and the US.
Meanwhile, the United States announced a USD 25 million grant to support the COVID-19 vaccination program across India. “US has contributed more than 200 million dollars worth COVID-19 assistance. I am pleased to announce that the US government will send additional 25 million dollars to support vaccination efforts across India,” Blinken announced during the joint press conference.
