US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, during the ASEAN-India Summit in Laos. PM Modi spoke on strengthening bilateral ties and cooperating on regional issues and also offered his condolences for the deaths caused by Hurricane Milton in the US.
This summit highlighted the close diplomatic ties between the United States and India and reasserted their commitment to collaborating on regional and global issues. Earlier on Thursday, PM Modi met representatives from New Zealand and Japan one-on-one while attending the ASEAN-India Summit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the newly appointed Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to take Japan to new heights and congratulated him for the new responsibility. He underlined that India will continue to give top priority to its relations with Japan, a trusted friend and strategic partner. The Prime Minister had his first meeting with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. Luxon lauded New Zealand’s decision to join the International Solar Alliance and accepted PM Modi’s invitation to visit India at such a opportune time
During the ASEAN summit on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that the 21st century will be remembered as the “Asian century” for India and the ASEAN nations. “I believe that the 21st century is the Asian century of India and ASEAN countries. Today, when there is a situation of conflict and tension in many parts of the world, the friendship, coordination, dialogue, and cooperation between India and ASEAN remain very important,” he remarked.
PM Modi unveiled a 10-point plan to improve resilience and connectivity during the summit. Which marks the completion of ten years of Laos’ theme and ‘Act East’ policy as the 2024 ASEAN Chair.In order to achieve cyber, disaster, supply chain, health, and climate resilience, the ASEAN-India Comprehensive Partnership will be strengthened through the implementation of a 10-point plan that includes improving physical, digital, cultural, and spiritual connectivity.
