New Delhi: At the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sammelan held in New Delhi, PM Modi launched the single brand Bharat under the One Nation One Fertiliser scheme —Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Urvarak Pariyojana—under which it is mandatory for companies to market all subsidised fertilisers under single brand ‘Bharat’. The event brought together more than 13,500 farmers and around 1500 Agri start-ups.
After the launch PM said-“Now, urea of uniform quality will be sold in the country under one name and one brand. This brand is Bharat. Today, in the form of One Nation One Fertilizer, a scheme has been started to provide cheaper and good quality fertilizers to the farmers under the Bharat brand. With One Nation One Fertilizer, farmers are going to get rid of all kinds of confusion and will get better fertilizer.” He added that the govt is determined to promote drip irrigation & use of sprinklers to conserve water and maintain soil health.
The irrational freight charges necessitated the scheme. Through this scheme, criss-cross movement of fertilizers would be prevented which would reduce high freight subsidies. All subsidised soil nutrients – urea, di-ammonium phosphate (DAP), Muriate of Potash (MoP) and NPK – will be marketed under the single brand Bharat across the nation henceforth.
PM Modi also inaugurated 600 PM Kisan Samruddhi Kendras (PM-KSK) that will act as a one-stop-shop for farmers who can buy products and avail multiple services related to the agriculture sector. The PM-KSK will supply agri-inputs like seeds, fertilisers and farm implements. It will also provide testing facilities for soil, seeds and fertilisers. Information about government schemes will also be provided.
