Kanpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kanpur, one of the most crucial cities of the poll-bound state of Uttar Pradesh today. He attended the convocation at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur and will later inaugurate the completed section of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project and Bina-Panki Multiproduct pipeline project.
“India has emerged to be the second-biggest hub for startups in the world and this feat has been achieved majorly with the help of the students of IITs”, said PM Modi during the 54th convocation ceremony of IIT Kanpur. He also launched the blockchain-based degree transfer technology during this event. All the students will be issued digital degrees through in-house blockchain-driven technology such that it will be unforgeable and can be verified globally.
Later during the day, PM Modi will inaugurate the 9 km completed section of Kanpur Metro Rail which shall run between IIT and Moti Jheel. Sources reveal that PM shall take a metro ride from IIT metro station to Geeta Nagar following which he shall inaugurate 356 km long Bina-Panki Multiproduct Pipeline Project that has a capacity of 3.45 million metric tonnes annually.
