During the 118th episode of Mann Ki Baat on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi too hailed the rise of India’s startup culture, including in tier-two and three cities. Stating that first-time registrations of startups rose by 200 percent in Nagaland last year, he pointed out that innovation is coming from tier-II cities and towns.
“In a state such as Nagaland, registration of startups has gone up by over 200 percent in the last year. Waste management, non-renewable energy, biotechnology, and logistics niches remain the most prompted to new ventures, according to the Prime Minister. The rate indicate how the ‘entrepreneur spirit’ that exists in the northeastern states of India is ‘booming’, he pointed out.
This episode of Mann Ki Baat also featured the celebration of nine glorious years of the Startup India mission. The program has been described by Prime Minister Modi to have brought focus on the fact that a majority of new Indian startups in the past nine years have been produced from across Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. “We get proud hearing that more than 50% of the start-ups are from small cities of the country. It is clear that our start up culture is no longer limited to the major cities only,” he noted.
The Prime Minister also pointed to women entrepreneurs as key players in this process of change. He noted that a lot of startups in the Tier II and Tier III cities are managed by the ‘daughters of India’ who are showing leadership and aptitude of innovations.
Startup India has prepared Indian society for inclusive entrepreneurial growth and the government is really building the foundation of a more dynamic economic era. With an increased number of new ventures in Nagaland, India’s interiors are bursting with dreams of becoming the new business hubs all over the nation.
