PM Modi Japan visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a grand and loving traditional welcome when he arrived in Japan on Friday. A band of Japanese ladies, in colourful and colourful Rajasthani dress, welcomed the Indian leader with clasped hands and good-natured smiles, and the time-honoured slogan, “Padharo Mhare Des,” meaning “Welcome to my land.” Their handshake emphasized the strong cultural affinity of the two countries.

To further augment the spirit of the event, one of the women sang a soulful folk song of Rajasthani origin- Vaari Jaavu Re, which received PM Modi with applause. This mood was further enhanced when another group of Japanese performers expressed their interest and admiration towards the Indian traditions in the form of classical dance that included Mohiniyattam, Kathak, Bharatnatyam, and Odissi dance forms.

The cultural tribute had taken a toll on the Prime Minister, who was slightly emotional upon seeing the cultural tribute, and shared some words of appreciation with the performers who were so devoted and passionate about the Indian art forms. “It was an excellent experience to entertain Prime Minister Modi. I am very happy. I played Mohiniyattam, which is a classical dance of South India. This is traditionally a solo dance form, but in this case of Prime Minister Modi, we staged a performance as a group, and it made me very happy and I felt honoured,” said one Japanese artist.

This emotional intercultural interaction preconditioned the important diplomatic activity of PM Modi in Japan. The Indian Prime Minister is currently paying a two-day visit to Tokyo at the invitation of his counterpart, Shigeru Ishiba, to the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit. The trip will be aimed at enhancing the Special Strategic and Global Partnership that India and Japan have been continually fostering in the past 11 years.

Before his visit, PM Modi pointed out that the development of better bilateral relations in strategic, economic, as well as cultural spheres has also been a priority.
