The prime minister arrived in the country on a two-day visit to attend the 6th BIMSTEC summit. PM Modi said that India believes in the policy of “development-ism”, not “expansionism”.

Discussions centered on expanding trade and investment opportunities, with a particular focus on sectors like infrastructure, digital economy, and renewable energy. Both sides expressed commitment to streamlining trade processes and promoting greater economic integration. Security cooperation, especially in the maritime domain, was also a prominent topic, given the shared strategic interests in the Indo-Pacific region.
