New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with 12 Indian AI startups, emphasizing the need to make India a global AI leader. The discussion, held ahead of the upcoming India AI Impact Summit 2026, focused on developing “Made in India, Made for the World” AI models.
Twelve Indian AI startups selected for the AI for ALL: Global Impact Challenge participated in the meeting and presented their projects. These startups are working in areas such as Indian language-based foundation models, multilingual LLMs, speech-to-text, text-to-audio, and text-to-video technologies, generative AI-based 3D content for e-commerce and marketing, engineering simulations, materials research, healthcare diagnostics, and medical research.

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 is scheduled to be held in India next month. Twelve Indian AI startups have qualified for the summit’s “AI for ALL: Global Impact Challenge.” PM Modi held a roundtable meeting with them and discussed their ideas.
The Prime Minister said that the world’s trust in India is the country’s greatest strength. He emphasized that Indian AI models should be ethical, fair, transparent, and based on data privacy principles. He also said that startups from India should work towards global leadership and that India can promote affordable AI, inclusive AI, and affordable innovation worldwide.
Representatives of AI startups commended the government’s strong commitment to advancing India’s artificial intelligence ecosystem. They stated that the AI sector is rapidly growing and holds immense future potential. The startups also noted that the global center for AI innovation and application is gradually shifting to India. AI startup representatives stated that India now offers a robust and positive environment for AI development, placing the country firmly on the global AI map.
