Prime Minister who is on his longest international diplomatic tour of the decade revealed how India is connected with Trinidad and Tobago by belonging, and not just by blood or surname, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, stressing that the ancestors of the country’s Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, were from Bihar’s Buxar.
Bihar, the heritage of which is the pride of India and the world, considers Kamla Persad-Bissessar their daughter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said as he spoke at a community event at the National Cycling Velodrome, Couva. PM Modi shared glimpse on his official account on X.
Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s political career has been marked by many historic firsts since she entered the political arena in 1987. She is the Caribbean country’s first female prime minister, attorney general and opposition leader. She is also the first woman to chair the Commonwealth of Nations and the first woman of Indian descent to become a prime minister outside of India and the broader subcontinent.
