On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pointed out that recent Goods and services tax (GST) reforms have had a profound effect on the Indian economy, and specifically he highlights the way GST reforms have contributed to the creation of jobs, as well as the upward growth in MSME and retail sectors. In one of his virtual talks on the 17 th Rozgar Mela, Modi pointed out that the attention of the government on youth empowerment is the basis of all the policy decisions made by the government, be it on domestic economic reforms or foreign policy plans.

The Prime Minister described the latest GST reforms as a historic move and said that their advantages are far much more than saving more money by the citizens. All the reforms he mentioned in the next generation GST are also increasing employment and growth opportunities he said. Modi indicated the recent sales of record sales at Dhanteras and Diwali and that these festival sales were breaking past records and a clear indication of the real performance of the reforms to the economy.

He furthermore stated that the most positive impact has manifested through such areas as MSMEs and retail trade as new employment opportunities are being created in the sphere of manufacturing, logistics, packaging, and distribution. Rozgar Mela alone saw the issue of in excess of 51,000 appointment letters in government jobs and all the letters issued in the country were in excess of 11 lakh. Modi once again restated that the empowering of the youth in India is among the priorities of the BJP-led NDA government and that the youth population is one of the biggest strengths of the nation.

At the global level, Modi mentioned the increasing association of India with the United Kingdom. He mentioned that the recent visit of the British Prime Minister contributed to enhancing bilateral relationships, and the two countries settled to invest more in such spheres as artificial intelligence, fintech, and clean energy. Also, Modi pointed out that the new free trade agreement signed will create additional opportunities of trade and investment that will benefit both countries.
