Kedarnath: Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand began on Friday, drawing thousands of people seeking spiritual solace and divine blessings. Among the pilgrims embarking on this journey was Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty, who made her way to Kedarnath.
Shilpa Shetty shared glimpses of her sojourn on her Instagram account, capturing the tranquil beauty of snow-clad mountains and her accommodation amidst the serenity of Kedarnath, accompanied by the soul-stirring anthem ‘Namo Namo’ from the movie ‘Kedarnath’.
The first puja at the shrine in the early hours of Friday was conducted in the name of Prime Minister Modi, marking the commencement of the pilgrimage season.
Welcoming the pilgrims, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami presided over the inaugural puja at Shri Kedarnath Dham temple, invoking prayers for the safe journey and spiritual fulfilment of all embarking on the Char Dham pilgrimage.
The doors of Kedarnath Dham were opened on Friday but the pilgrimage priests and traders kept the market closed. Horse-Mule Mazdoor Sangh Trade Union was also involved in this. Due to this the pilgrims had to face problems. They could not even get Prasad and food items. Late in the evening, the administration’s talks with the horse-mule operators were successful while the officials were busy convincing the pilgrimage priests.
Angered by the lack of action on their demands, the pilgrim priests and traders of Kedarnath kept their establishments closed on the first day of the Chardham Yatra. Its effect was visible not only on the Dham but also on the main stop of the Yatra, Gaurikund and the entire walking route. Horse-mule operators were also included in the ban, due to which the operation of horse-mules on the walking route came to a standstill.
