New Delhi: Addressing the Global COVID-19 summit organized by the US, PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday asserted the world focuses to buttress the effect of pandemics on the economy. “We also need to focus on addressing the pandemic’s economic effects. To that end, international travel should be made easier, through mutual recognition of vaccine certificates,” he said.
Reminiscing the historic vaccine export record, Modi highlighted how the Indian health department shared medicines & medical supplies with over 150 nations during the first wave of the pandemic. During the five-minute video message, PM Modi enunciated that India is now running the world’s largest vaccination campaign. He said, “recently, we vaccinated about 25 million people on a single day. Our grassroots-level healthcare system has delivered over 800 million vaccine doses so far. Over 200 million Indians are now fully vaccinated.” According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), a total of 83.39 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered across the country to date.
