New Delhi: Addressing the Joint Conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices of High Courts on Saturday, PM Modi advocated the use of local languages in court, citing the lack of confidence of the common man in the Indian judicial system.
“We need to encourage local languages in courts. This will not only increase the confidence of common citizens in the justice system, but they will feel more connected to it,” said Modi inaugurating the conference.
He underlined that the country should be on the creation of a judicial system where justice is easily available, is quick and for everyone.
Citing the laws constituted in 2105, Modi appealed to all chief ministers to repeal outdated laws to make the delivery of justice easier. According to him around, 1800 laws of 2015 had become irrelevant. Out of these only 1450 such laws of the centre we abolished while the states only abolished 75.
The conference was also addressed by the Chief Justice of India N V Ramana. Saying that the Constitution provides a clear separation among the three organs of the state, he added, “While discharging our duty, we should be mindful of Lakshman Rekha.”
