On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Christmas morning service at the Cathedral Church of the Redemption in New Delhi where he met a huge congregation of Christian community members. Special service included prayers, hymns and Christmas carols, as it was in the spirit of joy and devotion relating to the festival. The Bishop of Delhi, Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul Swarup, also offered a special prayer to the Prime Minister and insisted on the message of peace and good will during the ceremony.
Prime Minister, Modi had earlier in the day, sent warm Christmas greetings to the people all over the country wishing them peace, compassion and hope on the day. In one of the messages that he posted on a social media platform, X, he expressed his good wishes and said that Christmas was time to reflect on values that unite people. He observed that the teachings of Jesus Christ still bring harmony, love and understanding in the society.
The message of the Prime Minister was based on the timeless values of love, service, and brotherhood as related to the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. He emphasized their roles in enhancing social harmony, mutual respect, and compassion among the people in all walks of life.
The celebrations of Christmas were observed throughout the country, the cities and towns were glowing with lights, bells, wreaths and decorations. The churches experienced big congregations made up of people that were united to offer prayers and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in a spirit of joy.
President Droupadi Murmu also wished the citizens, especially the Christian community a happy Christmas. In the X post, she wrote about how Christmas is a holiday of happiness and excitement that produces the message of love and care. She remembered the sacrifice that Lord Jesus Christ made to the good of humanity and says that the event motivates the people to enhance values.
