Athens: In a visit that marks the time an Indian Prime Minister has visited Greece in forty years, Narendra Modi arrived in Greece on Friday morning. This visit signifies the deepening ties between India and Greece as leaders from both nations prepare for discussions.
Upon reaching Athens, PM Modi expressed his enthusiasm about his stay. Emphasized the potential to strengthen India and Greece relations. “Having just arrived in Athens, I am eagerly looking forward to a visit that aims to enhance the bond between India and Greece. I will be engaging in dialogues with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis (@PrimeministerGR) and spending time with the diaspora, ” Modi shared on X, formerly Twitter.
The Indian community in Greece warmly welcomed PM Modi by presenting him with a headdress as a gesture of hospitality. This visit to Greece follows the Prime minister’s participation at the BRICS Summit held in South Africa. There, he engaged in discussions with global leaders aiming to expand India’s diplomatic horizons.
Arindam Bagchi, the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, highlighted the significance of this visit on X by stating, “The iconic city of Athens witnesses PM Narendra Modis visit to Greece.”Upon his arrival at the airport, Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis warmly welcomed him.
During this visit, which was made possible by an invitation from Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, PM Modi is scheduled to participate in discussions with him and with President Katerina Sakellaropoulou as well.
