AHMEDABAD: As relatives of those aboard the Air India flight desperately look for their loved ones at the Civil Hospital, Asarwa in Ahmedabad, on a bed in the general ward lies 40-year-old Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, who said he survived the deadly air plane crash.
“Thirty seconds after take-off, there was a loud noise and then the plane crashed. It all happened so quickly,” Vishwash, who received “impact injuries” on his chest, eyes and feet, told the media as he recounted the last moments of plane crash in Ahmedabad.
Eyewitnesses told a terrifying story of how the plane fell into the neighbourhood and a lot of black smoke shot up into the sky within a very short time. There were dramatic images of pieces of the India plane crash debris that were embedded on top of buildings and others that were strewn on small lanes.
Fire services, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, and police forces were among the emergency response services that hastened to the crash site to conduct relief and rescue operations. Authorities are yet to provide the official number of casualties; however, the sources speak of more than 120.
