Jammu: Flight Lieutenant Advitiya Bal, one of the pilots who was killed Thursday night when the twin-seater MiG-21 trainer aircraft crashed during a training sortie near Barmer was cremated with full military honours on Saturday near his village, officials said.
Bal’s body arrived in a service aircraft at Airforce station in Jammu. At the IAF station, Air officer Commanding (AoC) Air Commodore GS Bhullar paid tributes to Bal, who made “supreme sacrifice in Rajasthan in service of the motherland. The coffin was then carried kilometre-long in prescence of private vehicles and tricolour-donned motorcyclists till the residence.
Lieutenant Advitiya Bal hailed from Jinder Mehlu small hamlet of border belt of RS Pura. He was a role model for the youth of his village. Thousands gathered to pay tribute to their role model. The family of brave pilot broke down on seeing the coffin arrive.
