New Delhi: Piaggio India will soon be launching their latest model of Vespa electric scooter in the Indian market. Reportedly, the company is currently working on the powertrain for their new launch. The new electric scooter is likely to be launched in India by 2022, and the design of the scooter will be based on Vespa Elettrica, which has already been launched in the European market.

The new scooter, that is to be launched in the Indian market, will be designed given the essentialities of the Indian customers. Currently, Piaggio India is in search of a suitable powertrain for their new launch.

The Chief Executive officer and Managing Director of Piaggio India, Diego Graffi, gave a statement to the media regarding their upcoming launch, where he revealed – “We use our own design, own technology for our electric two-wheelers, and the same will be applied to the new Vespa electric scooter. We are looking at the right powertrain for the Indian market because we don’t believe in sourcing the powertrain and technology from outside vendors.”

Vespa Elettrica has a fuse of retro and modern outlook, with its full LED lighting, curvy body panels, chrome highlights, and so on. For displaying information such as speed, range, battery capacity, odometer, the scooter has a full-color TFT instrument cluster. The users will be able to pair their smartphones with the scooter through the Vespa Connect app, as the scooter comes with Bluetooth connectivity.
