New Delhi: The Monsoon session today began on a stormy note as PM Modi attacked the Congress accusing it of not allowing the monsoon session to progress. Addressing a meeting of the BJP’s parliamentary party, he accused the Congress of deliberately dismissing attempts at resolving an impasse that has seen little work in this session. Additionally, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya expressed the likelihood of COVID-19 vaccines availability for children by August.

After the opposition created ruckus the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 11:45am for the first time on the sixth day and re-adjourned until 12:30pm. On the contrary the upper house was also re-adjourned from 12 noon to 2 pm.

As the Lok Sabha resumed its function; MoS Ministry of Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai announced the postponement of issue rejections slips attributing the delay to the outbreak of COVID-19 and floods. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi gave a ‘suspension of business’ notice in the Lok Sabha to discuss the Assam-Mizoram border clashes. Several opposition parties called for a SC monitored probe into the Pegasus issue.

Proceedings in both houses have been disturbed by opposition protests, leading to chaotic scenes since the initiation of the session. So far no business has been conducted in parliament as the Pegasus row erupted on July 18.
