New Delhi: This monsoon session has been witnessing chaos since day one. Sloganeering, protesting using placards and calling off the session have become a daily practice now.
Amidst another chaotic drama, Rajya Sabha is adjourned until 2 pm today. On the contrary, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay gave adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha to discuss the “Pegasus Project” sources report. Lok Sabha was adjourned twice today from 12 pm first to 2 pm next. Earlier today, Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant, suggested that if the Centre would issue dates for discussions on the Pegasus snooping controversy being raised, the opposition would allow the parliament to function and maintain the decorum of the house.
In Rajya Sabha, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sithraman will be moving three bills today, which include
Limited Liability Partnership (Amendment) Bill 2020, which seeks to amend the Limited Liability Partnership Act of 2008.
Another Bill, which is lined up for Rajya Sabha, is the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2021, or the DICGC Amendment Bill 2021.
The third Bill is the General Insurance Business (Nationalization) Amendment Bill, 2021. The Bill seeks to permit the government to cut its stake in prominent state-owned general insurance corporations, helping achieve its divestment targets.
Continued protests and repeated adjournments during this monsoon session has registered a marked decline in productivity of upper and lower houses by 20% and 14% each.
