NEW DELHI: Heavy criticism poured on PM Modi and the Bhartiya Janata Party as the former inaugrated the new Parliament building. But here is one minister who was all praise over our Prime Minister.
President Draupadi Murmu who was not present during the inaugration in her message read by Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh inside the Lok Sabha chamber, praised Modiji saying she was “deeply satisfied” that the structure was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is “the symbol of Parliament’s trust”.
She added that the Parliament is a guiding light for the country and the new building “is an important milestone in our democratic journey”.
Claiming that the new Parliament building will strengthen the spirit of national pride and unity among the people, “This important event held during the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is living proof of our commitment towards the protection and expansion of our democratic traditions,” she said.
“The reverence towards a democratic discourse is the core essence of our social and cultural traditions, based on which the system of healthy debate, meaningful dialogue and exchange of ideas has flourished over the centuries,” she further went on to say.
The inaugration of the new Parliament was reprobated by a dozen opposition parties as PM Modi chose to inaugrate the lawmaking house on Sunday instead of President Murmu.
