NEW DELHI: Both the houses of the Parliament were adjourned within a few minutes after the bussiness was resumed on Thursday after a one-day break for Ugadi. Both the houses will now resume at 2 pm.
Earlier the day, Leaders from like-minded opposition parties meet at the office of LoP Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge in Parliament to chalk out the strategy for the floor of the House. Floor leaders of political parties in Rajya Sabha convened with Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar at 10 am today to deliberate on securing the orderly functioning of Rajya Sabha.
The Lok Sabha on Tuesday passed a Rs 1.118 lakh crore budget for the financial year 2023-24 for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir by a voice vote amid the din.
Second part of Budget 2023, like the first, is marked by disruptions. While the opposition wants a JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee) investigation into the Gautam Adani-Hidenburg issue, the ruling party is demanding an ‘unambiguous apology’ from Congress MP Gandhi for comments he made about democracy in London.
Moreover, last week, on March 16, both the Houses of Parliament, meeting after a continuous stalling for four straight days, put together functioned for a little over five minutes before it was adjourned for the entire day.
The Lok Sabha, on March 16, worked for two minutes and 20 seconds in the pre-lunch sitting and 50 seconds in the post-lunch sitting. The Rajya Sabha on the same day functioned for one minute and 55 seconds in the morning and 40 seconds in the afternoon.
