NEW DELHI: Stalemate in the Parliament continues leading to adjournment of proceedings in both the houses. Lok Sabha proceedings have been adjourned till 12 pm while the Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm.
Prior to suspension of bussiness, membership of NCP leader Mohammad Faizal P P, who was disqualified from the lower house in January was restored. Faizal was disqualified following his conviction in a criminal case with a 10-year jail term.
The TMC leaders protested near Ambedkar statue inside Parliament premises against the Central government seeking PM’s reply on Adani row among other issues.
Earlier in the day, opposition leaders including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, NCP chief Sharad Pawar and AAp’s Raghav Chadha held a meeting at the Leader of Opposition’s chamber in parliament to discuss the strategy for the floor of the House.
With four more working days left in the Union Budget session 2023, the government will try to seek parliamentary approval for three key proposed laws, including the Inter-Services Organisations (Command, Control and Discipline) Bill, 2023. The other two bills are the Biological Diversity (Amendment) Bill, 2022, and the Competition (Amendment) Bill, 2022.
Meanwhile, PM Modi attacked the nascent bonding of the opposition over the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from parliament calling it ‘a unison of all corrupt’.
Modi targeted the entire opposition amid 14 parties’ move to go to the Supreme Court, alleging misuse of central agencies. “We have a strong foundation of constitutional institutions. That’s why to stop India, constitutional institutions are being attacked,” PM Modi said at the BJP headquarters in Delhi.
