Goa: Over 40 tourists were rescued on late Friday evening from Goa’s famous Dudhsagar waterfalls after a cable bridge collapsed due to heavy rains. The incident took place after heavy rains lashed the Goa-Karnataka border that resulted in increased water level at the waterfall.
Several parts of India received day-long heavy to moderate rainfall. Following this incident, 40 visitors remained stranded and were assisted by Drishti lifesavers team who then shifted them to safe places.
Drishti Marine has warned people not to venture into the waterfall for the next few days as heavy rains contributed to rising water levels. Meanwhile, IMD has predicted isolated heavy rainfall in North and South Karnataka from 14 to 17 October. Sources reveal, that there have been 13 deaths and large-scale destruction to livestock and properties in different parts of rain-battered Karnataka since the beginning of the month.
