After the Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian Armed Forces executed Operation Sindoor by conducting coordinated strikes against terror camps throughout Pakistan’s Punjab province and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). A high-profile media briefing conducted late Wednesday night by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri alongside Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sophia Qureshi detailed the military strikes.

Under Operation Sindoor, Indian military forces delivered accurate precision airstrikes against nine terror locations through a joint operations effort between their armed services. Intelligence information showed these facilities operated as bases for operators and directors of the Pahalgam attack. The strikes led forces to destroy about 80-90 terrorists while causing major casualties in Bahawalpur and Muridke after killing 25-30 terrorists at each location.

Foreign Secretary Misri characterized the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 as “barbaric.” Terrorists operating under the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group killed 25 Indian nationals alongside one Nepali citizen using gunshots to their head in front of their families while receiving Pakistani support. The victim was required to narrate the nightmarish experience to Indian officials to demonstrate the terror group’s cruel purpose of panicking ordinary people while undermining regional tranquility.

According to Misri, the terrorist strike served as a focused action to disrupt Jammu and Kashmir’s emerging tourism sector along with its inter-faith reconciliation. Amit Shah, as Union Home Minister, has issued orders to shift border-area civilians into bunkers while simultaneously canceling all leaves for paramilitary forces in response to escalating tensions.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) enforced air transportation restrictions that specifically affect the border territories. Government authorities have halted all civil aviation services from Bhuj and Porbandar, and Rajkot airports, and later handed complete control of Chandigarh’s Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport to the Indian Air Force to ensure security operations.
