The world book of records, London has formally recognized Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the recognition of an historical and unmatched political milestone. On December 5, 2025, the organisation officially recognised him as the first Indian to be sworn in as the Chief Minister ten times, labeling what he had achieved an extraordinary record of the democratic history of the country. Congratulatory note and certificate were forwarded to Kumar to bring into the limelight the rarity and importance of this accomplishment.
The results of the 2010 Bihar Assembly elections saw that Nitish Kumar, the president of the Janata Dal (United) got into office in his 10th term on November 20. The letter spoke highly of his unrelenting efforts, visionary leadership and permanent trust of the people of Bihar, it said that it is very unusual to have such protracted political leadership in a democratic system in the world.
The World Book of Records has reported that the ten times of leading a state in various political climates, alliances, and changing governance issues was an achievement of Kumar, who could adjust to the times, lead and retain the faith of the voters in decades. It specified that this is a feat that is uncommon in the post-1947 political arena of India, and that it was a record of its own that highlights consistency as well as faith in his leadership by the people.
