A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team will visit Faridabad to formally take charge of the investigation into the recent recovery of nearly 2,900 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, other explosive substances, and firearms. The stockpile is thought to be connected to the blast outside of Delhi’s Red Fort Tuesday.

According to NIA officials, the explosives were discovered in a rented space allegedly linked to two accused doctors, Muzammil Ahmad and Umar Un Nabi. Following the seizure, Faridabad Police sealed the biochemistry lab and a toilet block at Al-Falah Medical College, where Nabi was employed. Forensic experts found traces of ammonium nitrate-based compounds on lab benches and racks containing storage, and suggested that the accused may have removed small quantities of chemicals from the college over a few weeks.

Investigators believe the pair were running chemical reactions under controlled lab conditions and transferring larger quantities to storage in Dhauj and Fatehpur Taga for assembly.

Samples collected from the college were sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory in Madhuban for analysis.

The NIA’s involvement is likely to further investigation into the matter, particularly about possible terror links, procurement, and whether the accused were part of a broader group.
