The NIA had launched searches at several places in various locations of the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the Reasi terrorist attack the other day that left nine persons dead, including a child. The incident, which took place on June 9, involved terrorists firing at a bus carrying Hindu pilgrims from Shiv Khori to Katra in the Pouni area of the Reasi district, forcing the vehicle to fall into a gorge.
Pursuant to the enforcement of directives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the NIA took over the investigation on June 15. The raids were conducted in Rajouri based on the inputs from the key suspect Hakin Din, aka Hakam Khan, who was arrested on 19 June in connection with the terror attack on Reasi. Some of the findings of the initial investigations conducted by the NIA disclosed that Din offered protection, shelter, and also resources to the terrorists who attacked the Foley.
Moreover, Mohita Sharma, SSP of Reasi, said that Din not only hosted the culprits but also was involved in their operational planning and actions before the fatal event. In her words, the arrested person was a primary militant associate involved in the preparation of the operation together with the rest of the terrorists and was actively involved in the execution of the crime; the further interrogation of the case continues. After the questioning, Din disclosed the presence of three terrorists in his house, and he had accepted cash of Rs. 6000 from them, out of which the said amount has been recovered.
In June, a spate of terror attacks happened in Jammu and Kashmir. After that, PM Modi, along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, assessed the security state of the Union Territory. In his address, PM Modi said that the government is very seriously worried about these recent terror attacks and will in no way leave a stone unturned to make the enemies of our country realize a lesson.
