Churachandpur: The state of Manipur in Northeast India has been gripped by horrifying ethnic clashes, and a new shocking video has come to light, further highlighting the brutality of the situation. One day, after disturbing footage surfaced showing women being paraded naked and allegedly subjected to gang rape by a mob, a new video, has emerged depicting the decapitation of a man.

The victim has been identified as David Theik, a member of the Kuki community and a resident of Lamza village in Churachandpur. Theik was the sole breadwinner for his family and had been working as a waiter in Mumbai until the pandemic hit. He returned to Manipur in 2020 and was planning to return to Mumbai for work when he became caught in the violent clashes.

Theik was selflessly serving as a guardian, for his community when he encountered an incident on the morning of July 2nd. He endured an attack, from a group resulting in him being shot, suffering severe injuries to his body and losing one of his eyes. His decapitated head was then placed atop a bamboo fence.

No one has been arrested yet even though the video shows disturbing evidence. The police have not given any updates, on the investigation. The recent wave of violence in Manipur has caused a lot of outrage nationwide with people expressing concerns, about the safety and security of those affected by the conflicts.

The clashes began after a rally by the All Tribal Students Union of Manipur (ATSUM) on May 3rd, protesting against the proposed inclusion of people belonging to the Meitei community in the list of Scheduled Tribes (STs).

Manipur Police has arrested a fifth accused, Yumlembam Nungsithoi Metei (19), in connection with the viral video showing two women being paraded naked and sexually assaulted by a mob in Kangpokpi, Manipur. Four other suspects were already in custody and were remanded to 11-day police custody. The video, which triggered massive outrage across the country and Parliament, depicted a shocking act of violence during the ongoing monsoon session.
