Imphal: Three persons, including an elderly woman, were killed in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, not long after Kuldeip Singh, the security advisor to the Manipur government said that the state has not witnessed violence for 48 hours. Residents of Khoken village claimed that the armed men came at 4 AM in the morning and opened fire in the village, staying there for around two hours.
Khoken is situated Kangpokpi district’s border with Imphal West. The village is just a kilometer away from Sangaithel which falls under Imphal West district. Villagers recognized the armed men as Domkhohoi (65), Khaijamang Guite (52), and Jangpo Touthang (40).

As CBI dispatched Joint Director Ghanshyam Upadhyay to coordinate with the state officials, agency re-registered the six cases referred to it by the state government.
Violence broke out in the North-Eastern state after a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organized in the hill districts on May 3 to protest the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status. Nearly 100 people have lost their lives and over 300 have been injured ever since ethnic clashes broke out over a month ago.
