Madhya Pradesh: Madhya Pradesh government has issued warnings about the new COVID-19 variant that has been found in humans. According to sources, the AY.4.2 variant is a sub-lineage of the Delta variant, and seven additional cases have been discovered in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. It is 15 percent more transmissible than the original Delta version, according to scientists, and could be more contagious and produce major symptoms.
Dr. BS Saitya, the Chief Medical and Health Officer of Indore, claimed the new mutant had infected two army officers posted in the Mhow Cantonment. This came after the National Center of Disease Control (NCDC) produced a report stating that the samples for testing were collected in September.
In particular, AY.4.2, known as ‘Delta Plus’ and now known as VUI-21OCT-01 by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has been under closer research in recent days after evidence revealed that it spread faster than the dominant Delta version.
