Bengaluru: On Thursday, Dr. K Sudhakar, Karnataka Health Minister stated that from April 1, all passengers traveling to Bengaluru from any other state in India will have to show a negative report of Covid. Today, the city reported 1,400 Covid cases which are the highest in the last four months. To distinguish those who have been exposed to the virus, it has been decided to hand-stamp the infected people.
Dr. Sudhakar said, “Certain places, which have footfall and dense public places, will be sanitized to control the spread. Information regarding the availability of beds and ICUs will be made available online”. The minister even warned the people of the State against the mutant version of the virus that spreads at a rapid rate. He further added, “Therefore, it is requested to be careful for the next 2 months. We are tracing out 20 contacts for each infected person”.
The private hospitals have been asked to be ready in case of a massive surge. The minister said, “We will increase the number of beds if required. RGICD, Bowring hospital, and Charaka hospital will also be utilized for Covid treatment if required”. India reported 53,476 new Covid cases on Thursday which is the biggest single-day jump in total infections in nearly five months.
