New Delhi: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced on Monday that the NEET-UG 2021 examination will be held on September 12. Earlier, the undergraduate entrance examination for medical aspirants was scheduled to be held on August 1.
The Union Education Minister took to his twitter account on Monday; in a series of posts, he announced the exam dates and the precautions that would be taken during the examination.
As per the announcement, registration process for NEET-UG-2021 will commence today at evening 5 pm. All students can register themselves for the exams through the NTA websites.
The ministry of Education has decided to increase the number of centers from 155 to 198, due to the pandemic. The number of examination centers will see an increase from the 3,862 used in 2020, Pradhan wrote in another Twitter post. Additionally, it was informed that face masks will be provided to all candidates at the center. Staggered time slots during entry and exit, contactless registration, proper sanitization, seating with social distancing etc. will also be ensured. The ministry aims to adhere to COVID-19 protocols whilst conducting the exam.
A notification pertaining to applications according to the categories informed the application fee for general category would be Rs 1,500 per student, while aspirants hailing from the economically weaker sections (EWS) category need to pay Rs 1,400. For those belonging to other categories like SC/ST/OBC, the application fee for the undergraduate examination is ₹800. Candidates applying for reserved categories, including EWS and SC/ST/OBC are mandated to submit proof of their respective reservations during the registration.
It was also informed that the exam would be available in as many as 10 regional languages and English. The regional languages include Hindi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Telugu, Urdu, Tamil and Bengali.
