Vice President Election 2025: NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate CP Radhakrishnan will file his nomination today at 11 am. PM Modi will be the proposer of CP Radhakrishnan. During this, the Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states, Union Ministers, and approximately 160 MPs of the alliance will be present. These will include 20 proposers and 20 supporters. This information has been given by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju.
Voting for the Vice Presidential election will be held on September 9. Counting will also take place on the same day. The last date for filing nomination is August 21. Nominations can be withdrawn till August 25.
Meanwhile, INDIA has nominated retired Supreme Court Justice B Sudarshan Reddy as its candidate for the Vice Presidential election on August 19. He will face NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan. 79-year-old Reddy has been the Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court and the first Lokayukta of Goa. He is a resident of Andhra Pradesh. He was appointed as a Supreme Court judge in 2007. The notable aspect is that both candidates are from the South. Retired Justice Reddy is from Andhra Pradesh, while CP Radhakrishnan is from Tamil Nadu. Radhakrishnan will file his nomination on August 20, while Reddy will file his nomination on August 21.
Who Is CP Radhakrishnan?
68-year-old C.P. Radhakrishnan was born in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu and has been active in politics for more than four decades. He started his political journey with the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1974 and was also associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He was elected to the Lok Sabha MP from Coimbatore in 1998 and 1999. Apart from this, he has been the President of Tamil Nadu BJP, Governor of Jharkhand and Telangana, and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
