New Delhi: The NCB in a major drug haul has seized 60 kg mephedrone(MD) drug worth more than Rs 120 crore from Mumbai and Gujarat and arrested six persons, including a former Air India pilot, a senior official said on Friday.
“Following the tip-off, the officials from the NCB headquarters in Delhi and its Mumbai zonal unit conducted a raid at Jamnagar on October 3 and seized 10 kg mephedrone, Sanjay Singh, Deputy Director General of the NCB along with Mumbai Zonal Director IRS Amit Ghawate at a press briefing.
A total of 10.350 kgs of MD was seized from four persons in Gujarat based on a tip-off received by the Naval Intelligence unit at Jamnagar. Upon preliminary questioning and follow-up action, around 50 kgs of MD was recovered from a godown located at SB Path, Fort, Mumbai on 06/10/2022. Upon further investigative questioning, the kingpin was also apprehended (M I Ali). Overall two persons were apprehended in Mumbai (M.I. Ali & M.F. Chisty) on October 6. The involvement of a former AI-Pilot Sohail Gaffar from Gujarat has also surfaced.
