A 34-year-old officer of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Mumbai Branch, was arrested on Friday by Parli Railway Police for allegedly abusing a 25-year-old woman in a train. Dinesh Chavan, an SP rank officer in NCB, has been identified as the suspect, according to police.
The victim and the accused were on the same train from Pune to Hyderabad, according to the complaint. The defendant was on his way to Hyderabad for a court appearance. Chavan allegedly touched the complainant improperly, removed her underwear from her bag, scented it, and placed it on his chest, according to M Patil, SP GRP Aurangabad.
According to the police, a case has been filed under Indian Penal Code Sections 354 (A) (sexual harassment) and 509 (Word, gesture, or act designed to degrade a woman’s modesty) (IPC).
