Chandigarh: Of the latest detention’s of political figures in relation to Lakhimpur violence, Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu faced restrictions after he led a protest in Chandigarh against the death of eight persons in Sunday’s violence in Lakhimpur.
Navjot Singh Sidhu led a protest by Congress workers outside the residence of the state Governor, chanting slogans against the centre’s farm laws. He also demanded the arrest of Uttar Pradesh Union Minister’s son Ajay Kumar Mishra claiming he allegedly ran over the protesting farmers.
Meanwhile, the UP Govt also denied landing rights to Punjab CM Charanjit Singh after the Aviation Ministry had beseeched permission to visit the violence-hit district. Several leaders have been restricted from visiting Lakhimpur Puri. Leaders like Priyanka Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav were detained this morning after the former tried o interact with the violence struck families and the latter staged a protest outside his residence in Lucknow. The State Govt also denied visitation rights to Bahusjan Samaj Party (BSP) leaders also.
