New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will announce the nationwide rollout of the National Digital Health Mission (NDHM), renamed as the Pradhan Mantri Digital Health Mission (PM-DHM), on Monday, September 27th 2021.
The Pradhan Mantri Digital Health Mission supports universal health coverage is an efficient, accessible, inclusive, affordable, and safe manner by providing a wide range of data, information, and infrastructure services officials said on Wednesday.
The digital health identity issued to people under the PM-DHM will contain the citizen’s health records. This ID will be produced with information such as an Aadhar number and a mobile number for generating a unique ID for each individual. Officials also added that PM-DHM is currently in its pilot phase in the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu, Ladakh, Lakshadweep and Puducherry.
“The main objective of this mission is to enhance the efficiency of the health system in India. The national digital health ecosystem will be a one-stop solution for the health needs of an ordinary man. The difficulty of maintaining long paper trails, health records, or long queues at health facilities, etc. will no longer be a burden in this digital ecosystem. In addition, there will be hassle-free continuity of treatment as access to health records will be just a click away for physicians once patient consent is given,” an official said.
