On Tuesday, 25-year-old Sonam Raghuvanshi was pushed to Patna from Bikaner by her husband’s family, who have been visiting Meghalaya for investigation. The day before her arrest, she was found in Ghazipur after she allegedly killed a person.

After giving a transit remand by a Ghazipur court late on Monday, a five-member team of Meghalaya Police took Sonam into their custody and headed to Shillong. After reaching Patna, the team organized with SpiceJet to fly to Guwahati by 12:40 PM. Until her flight, Sonam remained at Phulwari Sharief police station, which is very close to the airport in Patna.

Photos showed Sonam with a black shirt and trousers, and she tried to hide who she was by covering her face with bags placed on a table. A picture shot at the police station was later seen by many on social media.

Adarsh Nagar police station in Buxar, Bihar, was the place where the police took a brief 15-minute stop along their journey. At this place, Sonam asked for food, and when the inspector inquired about the murder, Sonam answered that she didn’t remember what happened.

When the decomposed body of Raja was found in a gorge in Meghalaya, a week after Sonam and Raja disappeared from a homestay, the case attracted the interest of the whole country. The police report says that Sonam worked together with her boyfriend, Raj Kushwaha, and enlisted three men to murder her husband a couple of weeks following their marriage.

She is now being moved to Shillong for more investigation and to handle the legal process.
