Mumbai: After Delhi, waterlogging in Mumbai disrupts normal life in Mumbai. Following the incessant heavy rainfall, railway tracks submerged and flooded many areas of the financial capital of the country.
India Meteorological Department had warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall through a tweet on X.
Mumbai has recorded over 300 mm from 1 AM to 7AM on Monday at various places, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a statement. These heavy rains due to advance monsoon in the city have caused waterlogging in the low-lying areas and disrupted train services.
Noting the further possibilities of heavy rainfall during the day, BMC declared holiday for the schools. “In order to avoid the inconvenience to students, BMC has declared a holiday for the first session for Government and Private schools and colleges in Mumbai BMC area”, said BMC in its official statement.
In an update from Central Railways, it reported that rains have affected stations including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Bhandup, and Kurla-Vikhroli. Central Railways informed short termination of trains; Panchavati Express, Hingoli short originating ex Igatpuri, Dhule express, and CSMT Express through a tweet on X.
