Mumbai: The Mumbai Police has summoned the suspended BJP spokesperson in connection with her inflammatory remarks against the prophet Mohammed.

The summon came after an FIR was registered against her at Pydhonie police station in the city earlier this week after her comments about the Prophet during a TV debate triggered a huge controversy. The FIR was filed by Raza Academy.

Sharma is instructed to appear before the investigating officer at 11 am on June 25th, where she is expected to record her statement.

Besides Mumbai, a number of FIRs have also been filed against her in other states of India. Several protests were held across the nation demanding the arrest of the BJP speaker.

The protests turned violent in Uttar Pradesh, Kolkata and Jharkhand where at least two Muslims were killed in police firing.

Sharma was suspended from the party after a global outrage against the ruling party and boycott calls from Arab countries sparked.
