Mumbai: Bandra police arrested four people, including a woman, on Saturday. They were accused of kidnapping a 10-month-old boy and for trafficking the child in Telangana for more than Rs 3 lakhs, Mumbai Police said.
“It has been successful in arresting four people including a woman who stole children and sent them to other states. One of the accused who is a woman is a resident of Mumbai while the two accused from Telangana stole the child, Kaif. The police have recovered the child from Telangana and handed it over to the mother safely, the stolen child was sold for Rs 3.5 lakh,” Mumbai Deputy Commissioner of Police said.
The accused identified as Farhana Qurban Sheikh, Param Dam Gundeti, Nakka Raju Narasimha, and Vishirikapalya Rajarao Dharmarao have been taken into custody.
On the evening of August 31, a 40-year-old woman named Mumtaz Nashir Khan from Bandera Police Station complained that her child Kaif had disappeared while they were sleeping on the sidewalk of Mahim Causeway.
After collecting the information, the police sent a special team to Telangana. The team, together with the local Telangana police, took Nakka Raju Narasimha and Vishirikapalya Rajarao Dharmarao into custody. At present, the defendant has been sued under different provisions of the Indian Penal Law. The detained defendants have been taken into custody until September 8.
